Our Mission
NORML KC is the local Kansas City, Missouri based non-profit chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. We organized and successfully passed the 2017 ballot initiative Question 5 which decriminalized up to 35 grams of cannabis within Kansas City, and passed with over 75% support by the voters. Our board and chapter also played a crucial role in organizing and supporting the passage of New Approach Missouri’s Amendment 2 campaign, which successfully legalized medical cannabis in Missouri in 2018 with a historic turnout. We hold monthly educational chapter meetings, social events, and fundraisers.
On the Horizon
For 2020 and beyond, our chapter goals include working closely with newly elected KC Mayor Quinton Lucas as well as council members to expunge applicable unfair and antiquated cannabis convictions. Continuing to further local decriminalization efforts and working at both the local and state levels to secure medical cannabis patient parental, tenant, and employee protections. Our chapter also supports national NORML in federal cannabis reform efforts. Becoming an official member is easy, and helps us continue pushing to enact common sense cannabis legislation.
